We’re Forming a Bike to School Week Planning Committee!

Bicycle Lesson

To make this week as fun and successful as possible, we’re building a small planning team and are looking for volunteers for the following roles:

 

1. Event Coordinator (Lead)

  • Oversees overall planning and coordination

  • Liaises with school administration and the City of Vancouver’s Bike to School program

  • Keeps deadlines, supplies, and communications on track

2. Communications & Promotion Lead

 

  • Creates posters, newsletter content, and social media posts

  • Sends reminders to families and teachers

  • Helps with morning announcements or student-made promo videos

​

3. Tracking & Prizes Coordinator

 

  • Manages daily participation tracking (class tally sheets or punch cards)

  • Coordinates small daily prizes and grand prizes

  • Organizes prize donations and distribution

​

4. Safety & Route Coordinator

 

  • Reviews biking and walking routes around the school

  • Works with parents to identify safe routes or organize “bike buses”

  • Oversees bike/scooter parking and traffic flow during busy mornings

​

5. Volunteer & Activity Coordinator

  • Recruits volunteers for welcome tables, prize stations, and bike checks

  • Organizes themed days (e.g., Helmet Day, Decorate Your Bike Day)

  • Coordinates with student helpers or leadership groups

​

6. Student Committee

 

  • Promotes the event through posters, announcements, and assembly shoutouts

  • Helps run prize draws and activity tables

  • Assists with setup and cleanup during the week
