Walking School Bus

The Walking School Bus (WSB) program is a safe, fun, and healthy way for children to get to school together. It’s essentially a group of students walking along a set route with one or more adult “drivers” leading the way. Just like a real bus, the Walking School Bus operates on a schedule and stops to “pick up” or “drop off” children at designated locations along the route.

Now into our third successful year, we’re looking to expand the program to the south and southeast part of the school catchment to include even more students.

How can my child participate?
We invite you to participate in the Cavell Walking School Bus Express of Interest Form to support the development of our Walking School Bus (WSB) program.

We already have an established bus route serving the north side of the school catchment and are now working to design a new route for the southeast area. Your input is vital in helping us make this expansion a success!

By filling out the WSB survey, you can help us to:
-
Uncover where interested families are living geographically
-
Identify interested families (student participants and adult volunteers)
-
Understand school transportation habits
-
Recruit volunteers from the school community to become "Walk Leaders" — individuals who walk with the group of children to/from school
-
Sign up your students

With this data, we will be able to design the WSB route, register participants, and train volunteers. We will review all submissions, design the WSB route, and connect with interested parties to register students throughout the year.
