Bike to School Week

Bike to School Week is back for its 3rd year at Cavell, and we’re excited to celebrate active travel with our whole school community! Students are encouraged to bike, scoot, roll, or walk to school all week long. It’s a fun way to build healthy habits, reduce traffic around the school, and help kids feel confident getting to school under their own power.

This year, Cavell has received a $500 Walk, Bike & Roll Mini Grant, which means we’re able to offer even more fun activities throughout the week. Our 2026 lineup includes:

• Bike, Walk & Roll Pancake Breakfast
• Basic Bike Maintenance Workshop
• Free Bike Tune-Ups
• Bike Decoration Station & Art Bikes
• A Bike Parade at the Carnival

There are also exciting district-wide incentives. Schools across Vancouver can earn recognition from the VSB for strong participation, and HUB Cycling runs friendly challenges such as the “Wednesday Winners” competition, where schools log the most bike trips on a single day to win prizes. Kerrisdale Elementary previously took first place for highest participation—other schools have also been recognized in categories like “Top Active Trips.” Let’s see if Cavell can make the leaderboard this year!
